The Narrows (Bushwick) & Macri Park (Williamsburg)
The very mysterious Narrows Bar (Buswick, Brooklyn NY 1037 Flushing Ave) is nestled off the beaten path, and delightfully hidden in plain site. As expected, the bar was long and narrow, the lights were dim and the ambience was sexy chic. We sat and immediately grabbed the small and intimate menu to find out what exactly Narrows Bar had to offer.
We were delighted to meet our batender for the evening, Dee who served us up the most delectable delights. Courtney chose one of Narrows Bar signature drinks, Babushka, Vodka, ginger extract, lime and soda water. She described it as refreshing and tart. I chose the Word, a new spin on the classic cocktail The Last Word. The lounge styled music, blended well with the ambiance, the drinks were mixed perfectly and we were hooked. We will be back, often! Thank again to Dee, we had an amazing time.
Morgan stop on the L train
We walked into Macri Park (Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY 462 Union Ave late on Sunday ready to have a good time. Immediately we noticed the tunes coming from the DJ, Selector F Yes, playing a vinyl set, all choice tracks. The bar itself is almost a 50/50 mix of a lounge and a dive, they have the mix just right. Johnny the bartender was open, funny, inviting and great to chat with. The music was perfect, Clash of the Titans was playing on the screens (the original of course) and the drinks were strong. Johnny, Courtney K and I talked about 1990′s and how ‘it wasn’t really that long ago’, we laughed at the special effects of Clash of the Titans and joked about this and that. Although the bartender was taking time to talk with us, he never left his bar untended. Everything was just as it should have been. We both really enjoy this place and look forward to frequent visits.
